  • Pick Of The Crop 85 Bradford Road, Cleckheaton, near Bradford, BD19 3PT. 01274 861925. Nice little greengrocer, reasonably priced with easy street parking right outside.
  • Radish  Bookshop & gift  Allerton. 128 Harrogate Rd, Chapel Allerton, Leeds. 0113 269 4241.
  • Maumoniat 35-43 Brudenell Grove, Hyde Park, Leeds, LS6 1HR. 0113 278 2432. South Asian ethnic food specialist. Like an exhibition of interesting and unusual dried pulses.
  • Hyde Park Picture House Brudenell Rd, Hyde Park, Leeds. 0113 275 2045. Gas lit, interesting films. Use it or loose it.
  • Jumbo Records City centre shopping mall location BUT heroically independent. Vinyl, fanzines, concert tickets including local gigs by every useless band in the city and god bless them for it.
  • Leeds Kirkgate Market Markets work best when stall holders can compete with each other selling the same things. This happens here. Also quite an ethnic foodie experience as many communities have stalls directed at their culinary interests here. Beautiful light and Victorian ironwork at the front, big grey shed in the middle, outdoor stalls at the back, farmers market every other Sunday.
